Agree in all respects. However, MAGA has a martyr and they already have a retribution model fashioned by Trump et al. Not envisioning calm or civility. HOPE for the best, prepare for the worst, deal with whatever happens. Remain calm and carry on.

Charlie Kirk joked after the vicious hammer attack on Paul Pelosi – one that could have led to Mr. Pelosi’s death – that a “patriot” should bail out the attacker.

I believe people are entitled to freedom of speech, as heinous as that speech is sometimes. It was awful the things they said about Paul Pelosi. But doesn't change the fact I believe people have the right to say them.

People are entitled to freedom of speech. And so is the Other side. We can say they're silly and wrong or in this case: shamefully cruel

I truly don’t understand how Charlie Kirk would say some of the things he said. Too much was cruel. And yet he had the right to say them.

Absolutely. And we have the right to say he is cruel and wrong.

Right but it's about the reaction to this horrific event. Where were the conservatives on Jan 6th? Or with the Pelosis? Double standards are everywhere but this is a bad one 🩶🤍

I knew a lot of conservatives who were absolutely outraged on January 6, 2021. I’m sorry to see many are quiet on that front these days. It was horrible what happened. And we should never want it to happen again.

Like you, I don't agree with Charlie Kirk on many issues, especially his ablest views on autism that dismisses the need for accommodations.

What a fragile time we are living in. Your compassion and calls for dialogue are laudable and healthy. However, given the lack of empathy and, more importantly, wisdom in the White House, I wonder if the only way we will step back from the brink in America over the next year is if Christian leaders, in particular, stepped up and very purposefully and actively began holding forums in which competing political ideologies within their faith boldly identified and pursued all the ways in which there is common ground between Democrats and Republicans, rather than dwell on the obvious differences. Because, maybe, just maybe, we'll find we do have more in common and our "differences" are really not consequential at all.
